Fiji Islands – Tiny tropical islands with lots of resorts and a place to get a good value for your money, especially compared to Tahiti and Bora Bora or anything in the French Polynesian Islands which are definitely pricey. Taveuni, Mamanuca, Yasawa island groups recommended. Best weather: May-October.
French Polynesian Islands – Tahiti if you want more civilization but we would recommend Bora Bora or Moorea more. Matira Beach for a nice hike and don't miss the Bora Bora Lagoonarium. South Pacific islands with a French touch. Best weather: May-October.
Hawaiian Islands – Gorgeous volcanic islands with lush flora and incredible weather year round. If you visit Oahu, don't miss the Polynesian Cultural Center and a chance to hula. Follow it up with authentic Hawaiian food right on the beach with a dinner and luau show. However, our personal favorite is Maui with incredible sunrise/sunset views both from the beach as well as the 10,000+ feet high Halakalea. Also, check out the various botanical gardens on the side of Halakalea (the volcanic rock allows for amazing, colorful, varied flora). Kauai and Lanai are highly recommended as well. Best weather: Anytime.
Caribbean Islands – Not as lush as the Hawaiian or South Pacific islands but the crystal clear waters make for amazing snorkeling and scuba-diving. The Caribbean Islands are best known for their nightlife so for couples who need a good nightclub or dance scene, these islands would be more suitable than the Cook Islands. Our favorites include Dolphin Cove & Montego Bay, Jamaica and Paradise Island, Nassau, Bahamas. St. Barts, St. Johns, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, and St. Marten are other recommendations. Best weather: December-April.
Greek Islands – If you want a place that will slow down your pace and change your outlook on life, then these islands are it… it doesn’t get more relaxing than Santorini and Mykonos. Rhodes and Crete are some other options. The beaches themselves (i.e. sand and surf) don’t compare to Hawaii’s Maui or Kauai but they have their own quaint charm. Best weather: June-September.
Cook Islands – Lush volcanic islands lined with coconut trees and – best of all – few tourists. If you really want to get away from civilization, try the Cook Islands. Best resorts on Aitutaki and Rarotonga. Best weather: May-October.
Seychelles Islands – Remotely situated islands in the Indian Ocean that are charming and have a lazy and relaxing feel to them. Mahe is the main island; Praslin, Le Digue, and Mahe Beaches are recommended. Best weather: May-September.
Bali Islands – Beautiful beaches combined with picturesque rice terraces. Amazing art, music, dance, cultural diversity. The lower end of the southwestern shore is peaceful and beautiful, along with Ubud. However, avoid Kuta which is more hectic than romantic. There's a reason why they call this place "Islands of the Gods". Best weather: May-September.
